Help with 2000 VW Jetta Remote Entry/alarm system?
I have a 2000 VW Jetta and over the last few months my spouse and i have managed to drop both keys to the point the backs pop off the keyless entry remote. We put it back together and it doesn’t work. We’ve tested the batteries and tried reversing the polarity of the batteries and nothing works. Has anyone had this issue and know how to fix it? Also an exceptional solution would be how to disable the alarm so it doesn’t honk and flash lights when we turn it on without the first unlocking it with the remote?
I would rather spend the same money on a new alarm system with more functions than buying replacement keys that will cost more than the alarm
you need to buy a new remote. the keys will be the same. but you would have to program the remotes at the dealer. it costs around 40-55 bucks. or you can program the remote by yourself if you know how….it takes two minutes!

How much does it cost to install keyless entry and an automatic starter with an alarm system?
I have 2007 chevy cobalt (4 door). It’s just the base model and dosn’t have power windows or locks. Thanks for the help.
Basically there’s a couple cost factors involved.
First you have the cost of your alarm/start module that can range anywhere between $70.00 – $700.00 depending n the options and quality you are after.
Second is the cost of the actuators, They can range from around $80.00 on up depending on quality of the actuators.
Third is installation cost of the actuators generally can be installed in around 2 hours. Cost around $120.00 — $180.00
Fourth in the installation of the module, Again depending on the options of the unit, installation time will vary.something like this can take about 4 hours to install. figure around $60.00 – $90.00 per hour.
Fifth you’ll also need a security by pass in order to over ride the pass lock security system, you can get a by pass module for around $40.00.
